Brazil Churrascaria

Went Brazil Churrascaria for dinner with family and Jiang tonight.
After getting our starters from the salad bar, which really serves a large variety of salad(like the super nice pumpkin and beansprouts with mango slices that makes u go yummmmm), the knife-welding Passadors (meat waiters) began coming with those juicy succulent meat. One cut of meat came quickly after another, before long, i had so much meat on my plate i couldnt tell which was which. I havent had time to finish chewing those bursting-with-favour, tender meat before the next came, and they just keep coming and coming non-stop! They had like 12 types of meat - beef topside, beef rump, beef neck(which was the nicest among the beef), beef ribs, crunchy sausages, ham, chicken wrapped in bacon, chicken liver, chicken heart, chicken thigh (which was like so tender and the best i've ever eaten), fish and lamb.
oh, the simply deliciously sweet roasted pineapple! I had like god knows how many slices of it.
cheese bread, very very very nice, we couldnt get enough of it!!!
Bahia Cooler, which is simply mango and lemonade - one of the speciality drink here.chicken heart! haha, seems gross, but it tasted normal, like normal chickenwarm and tasty ham!beef ribs that mummy was so in love with Daddy!Jiang!
Bro!
Omg, it was really a carnivorous feast and i really had an overload of protein. We ate so much, felt so bloated, finally after an hour, we had to surrender to the Passadors who came with those huge chunks of tasty meat on skewers. It was indeed a very satisfying(and fattening) meal that is worth every single cent. I just wish i could eat more without getting fat. This is without a doubt, a MUST GO for all meat lovers!

Chatterbox

While couples usually spend around $6-8 at food court for local food during their dates, me and jiang actually paid $48.35 for our dinner which consists of a plate of chicken rice that costs $20.50 and nasi lemak that costs $21, excluding gst and service charge. No, it wasnt a typo, and you didnt read wrongly, our dishes really cost twenty over dollars each!

Where else do you find such expensive local fare except at Chatterbox?I was skeptical about the quality of food here to deserve costing so much, and we only came because we wanted to see for ourselves if it is indeed that worthy of its reputation. Guess what, our conclusion is that it is not worth it! The rice was fragrant, chilli was spicy enough, the sauces were good, but the soup was bland and most importantly, the chicken was tough. Otherwise, it would justify its reputation better. Some of those hawker centres around definitely sell chicken rice that are on par, or in fact, better than the chicken rice here at just a fraction of its price (like my favorite Far East Chicken Rice which is no longer there *boo hoo*). And most certainly, my grandma's authentic hainanese chicken rice is so much better than this (my dad for one, never eat chicken rice from outside because he believes that grandma's chicken rice is the BEST, and damn, he's right)!
And the nasi lemak! The chilli was good, the rice was superb, but i have a BIG problem with it. WHERE IS THE FISH!?!?!?!
I dont know about others, but to me at least, the fish is the most important part of nasi lemak without which, it simply doesnt taste the same. Not having the fish is an unforgivable modification of the traditional nasi lemak to me. (oh, and Jiang thought that the arrangement of the food looks like an altar :X)I love food and i dont mind paying high prices for quality food, as long as they are yummy enough to deserve it. Unfortunately, the food here certainly doesnt warrant the price. Oh yar, they even had flies flying around the restaurant to give diners a more realistic local experience, how thoughtful of them *roll eyes*

Me and Jiang agreed that the food here is worth at most 10 bucks each. We wanted to try desserts at first, but we were glad we didnt after tasting the main course. Imagine paying $9 for tau suan, $12 for coconut ice cream and $10 for ice-kachang!

I know i may be too critical over here, but hey, i have the right to have such high expectations for local food that costs so much right! To be fair, the food here is definitely better than most that we find outside, but certainly not value-for-money. I much rather spend that money somewhere else.

I heard that the chef has left meritus mandarin and set up his own stall at Downtown East. Maybe i shall make a trip there when im free.

kuriya dessert set

Here is my recommendation for excellent Japanese desserts for tea - Kuriya at the basement of raffles city! For just $5 plus plus, we get to enjoy a drink and a japanese dessert from their menu. Very worth it right? Not to mention that the desserts were really awesome!
Jiang had the grilled ice-cream, which omg, tasted so unique and delicious! I dont know how to describe it, you simply have to try it for yourself.
I had cream amnitsu which was very yummy as well. All at such a low price if u go between 2:30- 5:30pm!

Corduroy & Finch

Woo, i had been waiting forever to come here!
Afternoon Siesta
very nice sandwiches :D
grilled beef tenderloin with portabello mushroom & Shallot sauce. I have only one word to describe this dish, HUGE! The mushroom was the biggest i've ever seen, the asparagus were big and juicy, and of course the tenderloin was big and thick too! Dessert Sampler. At first we ordered the sampler for 2, but after the huge serving of tenderloin and the afternoon tea pastries, we were so full we switched it to a sampler for one. Even then, there were so many cakes that i actually had difficulty finishing up!

I felt so sinful and fat after eating all these sweet stuff :( Nvm, i went for Claire's class after that and she made us do crunches, so i guess part of the calories were burnt. More fat blasting tmr!

Canele

Met Darling Jas for our favorite tai-tai tea and shopping! Sinful desserts, chatting and pretty clothes, what more can a girl ask for?
woo, i love pretty cakes! my super super super super nice berry black tea(even though it's a bit sour but i love it)!
whoa, macarons cake!

we bought the same top! hee. Except that she wore it as a tube and its long enough for me to wear as a dress.
Jas is such a BAD influence when it comes to shopping. She encourages me to buy everything i like! In the end, i spent 200 on my most expensive guess bag ever and another 50 plus on a skirt and a top. Please tell me it's worth the money! We concluded that girls are not very good shopping partners cos when they shop together, they spend like crazy! Cos girls know girls and so we know what each other wants without even having to talk about it.

Therefore, shopping with the boyfriend is better than shopping with the girls, in terms of spending control. So jiang, if you dont want me to be such a spendthrift, then you must shop more with me! :D

I must exercise some self-discipline. I have already spent almost 500 in this month alone, no more shopping for the rest of the month!
