valentine's day!

Guess what came in the mail today? A dozen of pretty pink roses in a cute little vase and a delicious box of chocolates!
the flowers came in a box and were not prearranged so i have to DIY! Lucky it came with a guidebook or i wouldnt know what to do. So i followed the instructions - fill vase with 3/4 water , add 10g of flower food ( i never knew there's such a thing), cut 1 inch of the stem and remove the outer petals...then arrange!
the mess after everything...
my virgin floral arrangement! not bad for a first timer right? :) It's really quite fun, listening to my favorite music and arranging the flowers! and the roses here are so huge, unlike those puny singapore ones

the pretty vase of flowers on my desk so i can look at it everytime and feel extremely loved and happy :)
im very proud of my first flower arrangement attempt!
I was really touched. I feel your presence even though we cant spend vday together cos now my room smells of roses. And i think it's really more meaningful to receive a bouquet of fresh roses that i can water and take care of. Thank you for spending your whole sat talking to me online despite having an important exam a week later, thank you for making the effort and thank you for the lovely roses and chocolates that must have cost you dearly.

Happy valentine's! <3

PS: we are exactly halfway through...i'll be back in your arms soon before long! Miss you! :)

valentine's day 2008

As i mentioned, me and Jiang decided to cook our own dinner tonight. But it ended up with Jiang doing most of the cooking while i sit in front of the TV and wait. Not that i didnt want to help, just that he said it would be easier for him preparing the dinner alone. And darling boy knows how much i hated washing dishes so he didnt allow me to do that neither. Anyway, i think the dinner he prepared was really superb!

He didnt use any ready made sauce, everything was done from scratch!

olive oil, basil and garlic followed by tomatoes...viola! the sauce was done :)
then add smoked salmon and parsley to the pastahere's the full set of my candlelight dinner specially prepared by my dear boyfriend :)
1. oriental mushroom soup
2. smoked salmon with avocado
3. smoked salmon angel hair pasta4. pan-fried cod5. last but not least, dessert! Asolutely yummmmy! My favorite Haagen Dazs strawberry ice cream with fresh strawberries, topped with crispy rice flakes and love letter :)
i drank white wine too but im such a lousy drinker i got tipsy after only one glass :( But Jiang opened a whole new bottle of white wine just for me and it was such a waste that i couldnt finish it and he couldnt drink since he had to send me home. So i told him to finish up when he got home, heh :p

happy valentine's 2008! Thanks for everything and i love you so damn much! <3

Valentines day!

14th Feb 2004 - Me and Jiang were not together yet. But we spent Valentines day together at MTV Asia Award ceremony. He had free tickets and i was dying to go, so he invited me. And he bought me a lollipop :)

14th Feb 2005 - Angus house, where we had the best Valentines so far. Food and ambience were excellent.14th Feb 2006 - Jiang couldnt spend Valentines with me cos he had to go on field camp. But we celebrated an early Valentines at The Cliff. On Valentines day itself, a bouquet of beautiful pink roses was delivered to my office.
14th Feb 2007 - Da Paolo at Club Street. Not Worth it. Food sucks.
14th Feb 2008 - Not going to fancy restaurants anymore. Everywhere is crowded, overpriced, food not nice, and everything comes in a set menu which i hate because it deprived me of the freedom to choose what i like to eat.

However, that doesnt mean this year's Valentines celebration is a simple affair. In fact, it is extremely challenging...

We are cooking our own dinner tonight!!!

so exciting!

hope we can pull it off!

Da Paolo IL Ristorante

It's the time of the year when lovers go lovey dovey again! Not to mention the much anticipated posh dinner, chocolates and presents!
Insalata di Granchio e Caviale
Salad of Alaskan crab, avocado, roma tomatoes and caviarTagliatelle con Porcini
Homemade wild berries pasta, porcini mushrooms and cream Aragosta al Forno
Rock lobster baked with parmesan and prosecco Saltinbocca alla Romana
Veal, parma ham, sage and parmesan cheese, served with sweet potato mash and grated smoked ricottaCrostata al Rum e Cioccolato
Chocolate, rum and homemade raspberry jam tartThe food was quite ok but a bit overpriced though. The appetizer was super yummy but the subsequent courses got less and less impressive. The dessert was not even nice. Definitely not worth hundred over per person. However, i enjoyed myself thoroughly cos Jiang is simply the perfect company:)
While waiting for the dessert(service was extremely slow today), we exchanged presents! Jiang bought me chocolates and made for me a very beautiful musical box and i gave him an armani wallet :)
sinfully delicious chocolates!
happy valentines dear! Stay happy and let our love last forever ok? :P
