i was checking my statcounter and i noticed there were almost a hundred hits yesterday, and the keyword was "nus exam results". Seriously, im pretty amused that there are so many people so interested to know how other people score. It's just plain weird, especially if they are strangers who have nothing to do with you. It's even weirder when these people left messages on the tagboards that are anything but encouraging.

Are they trying to compare their results with others to boost their self-esteem? I never believe in comparing results cos it's so unproductive. So what if someone else does better or worse than you? Do you know how much effort the person put in? Would comparing make your results better?

Ultimately, your results only depend on your luck, ability and effort, no? Even if it's relative performance that matters, all it tells you is whether you are smarter or more hardworking than others. If you want to do well, the only thing you can do is to put in more effort right? Instead of wasting time finding out how other unknown people do and leaving derogatory remarks, isnt it more productive to reflect on how to improve your results?
