Au Jardin Sunday Brunch
An early celebration for Jiang's 21st at Au Jardin. Heard their Sunday Brunch was good and usually booked up to weeks in advance, so we decided to try it out! I thought a walk through the Botanical Gardens would be fun and romantic, but instead, it was boring and i was grumpy because the weather was extremely hot and i felt so sweaty and so unglam. It was a super long walk to Au Jardinare we there yet??? I kept complaining and hope the food was worth the long walk!
finally!!!
We were seated at the nice table at the right corner with perfect view of the greenery. We had a buffet of appetizers and a choice of an egg selection, main course and dessert from the Sunday Brunch menu :)
carrot soupfoie gras terrine, parma ham with melon and nicoise salad
smoked salmon, potato salad with truffles, vegetable tart, marinated octopus, fried frog legs, and of course, chilled asparagus
deep fried seabass and prawn papillote
seasonal mushrooms, pimento stuffed with tuna and the weird onion thing
After trying each and every single one of the appetizers, i had a plate of all my favorites! My favoritest of all was the foie gras terrine. Im not a fan of foie gras, especially not in terrine form, but it was extremely delicious here i couldnt help having many many of it even though it is super fattening and unhealthy. Oh man, im salivating just thinking about it now!
Jiang's final plate had even more food than mine! (but i stole his foie gras hee)
Egg cocotte. It's actually soft-boiled egg and Jiang said it's the best egg he has ever eaten. Egg Benedict. A nicer and more high-class version of egg mcmuffin Jiang had wagyu hamburger with shoestring potatoes. Without the bun, the wagyu itself was excellent. And the chef's idea of shoestring potatoes was actually just fries.
I had roasted lamb short loin and braised shank. It was superb!!! A much better choice than Jiang's burger!
Lychee jelly and lychee sorbet for dessert
Kirsch parfait with cherry. I had no idea what this is but whatever it is, i hated it.
The desserts were actually a let-down. After the delicious appetizers and main course, we expected equally good desserts. But apparently, we were disappointed :( BUT BUT BUT, the complimentary slice of chocolate cake for Jiang salvaged my dessert experience. It was the best in the world and I was more than pleased to have it all to myself because Jiang doesnt eat chocolate. So yay for me!Birthday cake for Jiang!
Make a wish!
I didnt take many pictures of myself because being the terrible drinker that I am, my face turned an ugly beetroot red after that one glass of champagne.
Before
After. Oh well, guess i havent build up my alcohol tolerance yet. But the champagne was worth the redness! So it was great food, and the fine champagne made it perfect. However, the greatest pleasure came not from the food, but dining with your favorite person in the universe in the middle of a garden :))
