my sweet 19th

Met jianglei for my birthday dinner and he brought me to the french restaurnt Saint Pierre! sparkling water
guess what is this bread called? squid ink toast! Haha, but it tasted just like normal bread, except that its black.
Now, presenting to you the summer 2006 degustation menu @ Saint Pierre.

SAUMON FUME EN MEZZ
smoked salmon with japanese cucumber and home made yogurt, grilled nasu, hummus, momotaro tomato and wild herb tabouleh
COULIS D'ASPERGE ET OURSINS
caviar scented asparagus coulis with sea urchin and quail egg molletoscietra DEUX PETITS
salad of atlantic crab poached in dashi consomme with avocado, barbecued corn ice cream, gazpaccho with hamachi, parmesan foam and basil oil TARTINE D'ESCARGOT
warm salad of wild japanese mushrooms with snails confit, roasted cherry tomatoes and shiso cressFOIE GRAS PINA COLADA
dark rum marinated foie gras terrine with roasted vanilla infused pineapple, coconut perfume and lime leaf cloudSORBET JAMBON-MELON
rock melon sorbet with parma ham chipsBARRAMUNDI AU FENOUIL
roasted wild barramundi with grilled piquillos, organic black olives, edamame beans, cold pressed olive oil emulsion, fennel puree and crystallised fennel leaf we couldnt resist ordering an extra classic foie gras since we were disappointed with the terrine(or rather, not used to it). This was so superb i tell you, really the best foie gras ever!

Ooooh, so nice of chef Stroobant :D Chocolates for his little princess!the cute card that jianglei got from hongkong. The note that he wrote was so so sweet that i teared a little, especially after all that had happened just before the dinner.present from jianglei's mumMay i live the last of my teenage years with fun and happiness :) Im such a happy and lucky girl :p my dearest jianglei who put in so much effort to make this birthday celebration perfect for me. I really do appreciate it dear!
I really love French food. It just tastes so different from other cuisines and the explosion of taste in the mouth was overwhelming. The only thing is that it burns a big big hole in your pocket. Clarke quay is just so happening at nightand pretty too!
