Gyu-Kaku
vesak day today! I've never really appreciated public holidays so much till today cos it's the twelve again and jianglei is not in camp. So we can have our celebration, yipee!
Dinner was at Chijmes :D

We wanted to eat at Gyu Kaku but it was fully booked. So jianglei left his no. and we walked around the area taking photos till they called us when there was a place

26 months of relationship and still counting...

Gyu kaku.

cant wait to go in and try their japanese BBQ! I could already smell it from outside...

and finally they brought us to our table at 8pm

by that time i was starving!!! hungry ching cheng was a grumpy girl who couldnt wait to order lots of food

guess what's below?

the grill!

shochu with fresh grapefruit

jianglei's favorite plum wine with soda

pumpkin. A little different from what i had in mind but nevermind cos it's still rather nice

my favorite edamame that i have to order whenever i patronise japanese restaurants

US karubi short rib

beef intestines. Sounds disgusting but i love it cos it's so chewy!

P-toro spicy miso

the fire was so huge cos of the sauces dripping off the meats

prime venison, yum!

yakimochi ice cream

rice cakes on the grill. a very unique taste i must say

After our very satisfying dinner and on our way to the mrt, we passed by Menotti and guess what? They offer a 50% discount off their pastries after 10 pm! Sounds like a pretty good deal so we lingered around raffles city till then for some dessert.

diplomatica - some strawberry with vanilla custard thing

quite nice but not the best

the strudel which was quite a disappointment

maybe cos of the funny nuts they put inside

anyway, i swear im NOT GOING BACK ever cos THE SERVICE SUCKS. We waited for a bloody 15mins for our change and we became so fed up we just left without even bothering to ask for it. I was exceptionally pissed cos it was already very late and the delay meant that jianglei wouldnt be able to catch his bus if he sends me back. I didnt want him to waste money on cabs so in the end i assured him that i would be fine on my own and asked him to go home first. Moreover, the desserts werent as nice as they seemed so i wouldnt bother going there again.
