I just realised something. I actually wrote this post dated mar 23 and it was saved as draft instead of being published. It was a little back dated but my thoughts are still the same.

Something is really wrong with our society. I have been reading the Today newspaper everyday on my way to work and some of the articles really make me sick to my stomach. I read about the cat abuser David Hooi and his horrible deeds, but what sickened me most is the light sentence he received. He slitted the stomach of poor innocent kittens, he crashed their skulls, he tortured one till it's left eye protruded out, and yet, he only received a 3 month jail term. If I were the judge, i would make sure he gets a few good strokes of the cane. Torture to animals is just as disgusting as torture to man, no? So what justifies his light sentence? What message is the court trying to bring across, that abuse to animals is not a serious offence? Im not a crazy animal rights activist, but i believe that torture to any form of life is totally unacceptable.

Another incident that makes me disgusted is that of the two men who murdered a 69 year old woman while her bed-ridden husband lay helpless. They attacked her menacely, and left her to bleed to death with hundred over wounds. I really do not understand, are they really cold-blooded?Are they even remorseful at all?

The increase in crime rates and the increasingly brutal methods that these murders were performed really make me wonder what happened to the safe Singapore that we used to live in. What makes so many of our people become cruel monsters?Do they feel at all? What was going through their minds when they were conducting such sickening acts?Even the weak and helpless were not spared.

It's not just the singapore murders that make me wonder what's wrong with people nowadays. There are growing unrest everywhere around the world. The Iraq war did not bring about democracy and peace as promised by the Bush administration, instead, we see the country sinking into a civil war. In Thailand, the demonstraters are bringing unrest to Bangkok and scaring investors and tourists away. It seems like everywhere i look, there isnt much peace and love. Only hatred. The world sucks. If only i have a way to make it better, I would.
